DIL 546/B Dilution System for static dilution (1:10) of aerosols at static air flow rate (2,83 L/min) with pneumatic-induced switch

To solve specific measuring tasks, the DIL 54X/B Dilution System serves for a defined and reproducible adjustment of the particle concentration in aerosols. Depending on the model, the dilution factor is calibrated at the factory. The dilution can also be bypassed by a pneumatically operated bypass circuit.

Optical particle counters have a maximum measurable particle concentration. If this is exceeded, the particle counter will fail to measure. By connecting a DIL 54X/B dilution system upstream of the particle counter, the aerosol concentration can be reduced by a dilution factor of 1:100 or 1:10. Due to the possibility of bypassing the dilution, the DIL 54X/B can be connected in series with other dilution systems of the DIL 54X/B series. This means that higher dilution factors can also be set. The bypass is pneumatically controlled.

Applications

From the aerosol flow to be diluted, a sample is passed through a thin capillary. The particle concentration of the capillary flow rate remains unchanged, whereas a HEPA filter removes nearly all particles from the bypassing flow rate. After the capillary and filter both flows are remixed. The dilution ratio results from the ratio between the two single flow rates.
